Horizon of hope 2009 (WITH PICS)

Info on the 2009 Horizon of Hope baskets are out. This is the 15th year Longaberger has supported Horizon of Hope, you can find more info on Horizon of Hope by checking out this post.
This year will feature 2 baskets, one in the shape of an inkwell, the other a desk or vanity basket

There will also be pink pie plates, pink measuring cups and a fully lined Horizon of Hope tote, and the pink travel mug will be making a comeback (I'm excited!) The liners will be made in the USA

Pitch in Party

One of my friends is having a pitch in party next weekend, which made me think wow what a great idea for Longaberger! With the state of everyone's wallets right now how can you entertain and not break the bank? A pitch in party! Get together with 1 or 2 of your friends and each of you splits the responsibilities of hosting a home show. Invite all 3 sets of friends, picking a friend that has a nice crib would be a good choice at this point. You can split the costs of food and drinks and help the person who's house your using clean and set up.
Split the profits you all bring in 3 ways, so your consultant is putting in 3 shows, and you can each get a few half price items or hostess dollars!

If you'd rather you might even be able to ask your consultant if you can do an Open House at her place, bring a dish, invite all your friends, and split the show that way!

Longaberger Bridal Registry

So, you know someone who's getting married, who also loves Longaberger (Like you do!) why not offer to do a Bridal Registry for them? 

Have the bride to be select items from the catalog that she would like for her home, be sure she selects some items from many different price ranges and different types of products. 

Next make up a nice little letterhead type page (LB has one you can get if you use their business card maker)

On this page put the bride and groom's name address and phone number and wedding date

Also make sure that it has your name phone number email address and such. 

Next make a nice little list of all the items the bride chose for example:

After you have typed or written all of this information up, you and the bride should inform her friends and family that she has made a bridal registry with Longaberger and how to use it, You could send them all an email, call them on the phone or send them a letter by good ole snail mail. An example of what you could say in a letter would be to say:

Dear ________________

     For her bridal registry, (bride's name) has chosen to do something a little different, she loves Longaberger products and as such would love to receive some of our products for her home! (bride's name) has selected items from our catalog and added them to our Bridal Registry. These products are only available through a Longaberger associate, and are not available in stores. 

Included is the list of items that (the bride) has selected as items that she would like for her home. If you would like to purchase an item as a gift please contact me so that I may tell you wether or not that item has been chosen by someone else yet, just like a registry at a store. If you already have a consultant, please order through them, but still let me know so that the bride doesn't receive multiples. 

      At the wedding, the bride will recieve a gift certificate with your name on it so that she may turn in her own Longaberger Show order and receive hostess benefits, no need to wrap or pick it up! You can make purchases through email, phone or mail using your credit card or check.

Hi ya'll, 

I've been thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have something witty and smart sounding to say when someone starts knocking your baskets? You know, oh those baskets, their so expensive, why not just go to Walmart and pick up a nice wicker one, looks just like that one!

1. Longaberger Baskets and Woodcrafts are made in America. By buying Longaberger I'm doing my part to support American workers, I've met some of the folks that make products that I serve my family out of (serving baskets).

2. These baskets are made to last, I've seen baskets that are from the 80's still kicking it with a big old stack of magazines, or holding VHS tapes beside the TV. Clearly well loved, but that's part of that family's story!

3. The market basket, easilly holds more than a plastic bag at the grocery store without busting through the bottom, not only is it easier, it's better for the environment. 

4. Longaberger pottery keeps food hot for HOURS, goes straight from table to fridge, AND is dishwasher safe, No dishpan hands for me thank you very much. (ok, I don't have a dishwasher but don't tell anyone else that!)

5. With Longaberger, you really do get what you pay for, Of course, you could probably say that for the dollar store knockoff as well ;-)

Organize your Stampin Up!

Hey Ya'll, I've been researching some basket uses since it's currently winning the poll for what my 3 readers want to see, I found some information on how to use Longaberger to organize Stamping supplies. I'll forewarn you, I don't know what some of this stuff is, I don't Stamp up... :( but I would like to, I was very into stamps as a child...  

*note, please remember to use protectors in anything that may hold something inky, or gooey, or messy... My boyfriend can tell you how heartbroken I get when I go to the antique store and find a button basket covered in crayon marks on the inside.. Do it for me, even if you don't care about the basket...

-Vanity with divided protector (no longer in catalog) holds monoadhesive, sponges, brads, eyelet tools, stylus (styli?)

-Round Keeping holds embossing powders

-Desk Pal holds pens and pencils

Hey Everyone-
Today's post is about an organization tip for consultants.

I've designed a sheet to keep track of your customer info, print out a bunch and put them in a 3 ring binder. If you don't want to use a sheet like I've designed you could also use large index cards and keep them in the recipe basket.

The information that I feel is important to keep track of are:

The basics like Name, address, phone number, email address, these are good to have on hard copy because even though the email addresses are in your email sometimes technology goes wrong.

Information about their collecting: Keep track of what basket stains they collect and what pottery colors they use so that if there is a sale you know- hmm I should call her, or hey I just found this awesome deal on ebay, I should shoot over an email.

Important dates- save hubby some embarassment, call him before her birthday and say "hey Joe, I know Laura's birthday is coming up, there's a great sale this month on eggplant loaf dishes, would you be interested?" (can you imagine if your hubby suprised you with Longaberger on your anniversary?)

The Extra Notes section is for anything else you might want to add in, maybe retired products they're looking for or the fact that they're a collectors club member.

*Bonus Note: If you pop the sheets in a clear page protector before adding it into your binder, you can erase things like "looking for 2000 easter basket" after you found it for her.

Mmm Mmm Monday- Dirty Dessert

This is a recipe I used to LOVE at girl scout events! It's Dirt Dessert, Basically it's food made to look like dirt in a flower pot, we always made it in a plastic bag, but it looks really nice in a flower pot!

The New Longaberger Flower Pot is a booking gift only.

Ingredients
- 2 packages Chocolate or Vanilla Pudding (chocolate looks more Dirty, but Vanilla tastes better to me) Or you can cheat and use the oreo pie filling mix pudding (I won't tell)
- Oreos
-12 oz Cool Whip
-Gummy Worms and/or silk flowers

Make the Pudding According to the directions, Fold Cool Whip in with pudding.

In a plastic bag wrapped in a towel, crunch up the oreos

In a CLEAN flowerpot, use a whole oreo or a marshmallow to plug the hole in the bottom. Layer Pudding and Oreos. Add in Gummy worms to some of the layers and have a few popping over the top, Add flowers to the top for a cute effect.

This makes a neat spring dessert or a great kids party treat.

Poker Party

Hi ya'll this is a fun party idea I've been to a part set up like this and it was awesome.Basically the idea is a Poker Party, send out invitations with a playing card on it, (or 2 if it's a very small group) once folks come to your party their goal is going to be win more cards and get the best poker hand they can.

Customers get a playing card for things like:
RSVPing,
bringing a friend (if that's acceptable, we did it at an open house, your hostess may want a controlled number)
winning games (like a word scramble or something small)
turning in a show (open house)
ordering baskets
bringing food
booking a show
etc.

For those who don't play poker regularly you can check out http://www.pokerlistings.com/poker-hand-ranking which tells you what hands are best, you may include it with invites.

- There is a new 2 tiered Wrought Iron stands. It looks just as teetery as the one for the triangle bowls.
- Introduction of black stain for Spring... Not sure on that one, I LIKE black (my two favorite colors are Hot Pink and Black) and I'm just not feeling it.

Mmm Mmm Monday Chicken Enchilada Casserole- and More Buzz Info!

Hi Everyone, I'm going to try and introduce a new segment- Mmm Mmm Mondays! Featuring a delicious recipe served and/or made using Longaberger Products!!!

This Week in honor of the Longaberger Buzz and Leadership Conference and the Introduction of the Potluck Basket for the Spring/summer catalog, I've decided to start out with a recipe using the potluck basket and the 2qt casserole!

The Potluck Basket has 2 swing handles, The dimensions are as of yet not quite known but it should be approximatly 9inches in diameter based on the fit of the 2qt casserole and the fact that it interacts with the following pottery:

I'd also estimate that the 8" work basket protector would fit inside (using the protector as a type of Tupperware)

SO- Using our 2qt casserole dish which looks really nice in the potluck basket, and possibly a buffet brick to keep it nice and warm, we can make some fabulous Chicken Enchilada Casserole! (this recipe was sent to me by my Branch Leader, if you know who made it first, let me know!)

Chicken Enchilada Casserole

1cup chopped onion
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tsp. each chili powder, garlic powder, ground cumin
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
2 pounds cooked shredded chicken breast
3/4 cup salsa
8 oz. cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped black olives (optional)
6 7" round flour or corn soft tacos
1 can enchilada sauce

Heat oven to 350°. In large saucepan cook onions in oil, add spices and then cream cheese over low heat until melted. Add shredded chicken and salsa. Stir 2-3 minutes until hot. Remove from heat. Stir in 1-1/4 cups cheese and black olives. Pour a little enchilada sauce on the bottom of the Longaberger 2 Qt. Casserole dish. Next place 2 soft tacos, 1/2 of the chicken mixture, sprinkle with a little cheese, 2 more soft tacos, remaining half of chicken mixture, last 2 soft tacos, enchilada sauce and top with cheese. Bake 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

It is described as having "clean lines" regarding the glaze, color and design. The braid on the outside is taken from JW's Cake Basket (he braided twine on the band and attached handles with 3 tacks)
